Superb luxury shotgun with external hammers 12 calibre.
Lovely locks with English engravings, well-marked by manufacturer “E.M. REILLY & CO. LONDON”. Marking on the interior of the step-up “PURDEY’S PATENT”.
Barrels, formerly re-tanned, with marking “E.M. REILLY & CO. NEW OXFORD STREET LONDON AND RUE SCRIBE PARIS”.
Barrel interior in very good condition.
Opening via lever under the trigger guard.
Hallmarks on the barrels “Couronne CP” for black powder test.
Works very well, a little play in the mechanism.
Lovely dark walnut wooden parts with handling marks. Gilded monogram with 3 bees.
Horn butt cap.

In 1867, E.M. Reilly and Co. won a medal at the Paris Salon and in 1869, opened a local site on rue Scribe in Paris. It was there that he was appointed arms manufacturer by Napoleon III. This shop closed in 1872 and a second site was opened in 1884 on 29 rue du Faubourg St Honoré in Paris.
